About the Role
As a Hardware Engineer at Tonalli Systems, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and scaling the physical sensors that power our PlantPulse platform. You will work closely with our software team to ensure seamless integration between hardware and our mobile-friendly web dashboard.
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype ESP32-based sensor hardware for environmental monitoring
- Develop and optimize firmware for low-power, reliable sensor operation
- Collaborate with the software team on hardware-software integration
- Source components and manage relationships with manufacturing partners
- Create documentation and assembly guides for production scaling
- Test and validate hardware in real-world educational environments
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in embedded systems or hardware engineering
- Proficiency with ESP32, Arduino, or similar microcontroller platforms
- Experience with PCB design and prototyping
- Knowledge of sensor integration (soil moisture, temperature, light sensors)
- Familiarity with wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE)
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for manufacturing at scale
- Background in environmental sensing or agricultural technology
- Familiarity with enclosure design and 3D printing
- Experience with low-power design and battery management
